Pin Posts/Reels to Profile

Instagram now allows users to pin up to 3 posts or reels to the top of their profile. Just like there are pinned posts on Tik Tok and Twitter, these pinned posts will sit at the forefront of your Instagram grid as if you have recently posted them. Pinning posts is quite simple. You can do this by selecting one of your posts or reels and then tapping on the three dots at the top right corner of the post. Now when you return to your profile, you will see your post at the top left corner of your grid with a white pen icon. If you want to add another post/reel, the existing pinned post will get pushed to the right. This option to pin posts has been in development since earlier this year. The feature was first spotted by an engineer in January 2022, but Instagram itself officially announced a test in April 2022. This feature can help creators ensure that certain posts of theirs get noticed. Instagram confirmed this new feature via a post on Twitter saying, “You can now choose up to 3 posts or Reels to pin to the top of your profile.”

Longer Reels

Instagram Reels is one of the most loved features of the social media app. Earlier when Reels were introduced in 2020, their duration was restricted to 15 seconds. Over these 2-3 years, the duration was extended to 30 seconds, 60 seconds and now it has further extended to 90 seconds. “So we extended them to 60 seconds last year, now you can upload reels as long as 90 seconds and tell longer and more full stories,” Instagram head Adam Mosseri claimed. Import Audio in Reels

Instagram will now allow you to import audio in reels. This will enable users to record an audio file in their gallery and then use it in their reel.

Interactive Stickers in Reels

Instagram users will now be able to use various interactive stickers such as quiz stickers, poll stickers, and emoji slides to their reels. These features have been introduced shortly after Meta released a major editing tool for reels on Instagram including templates. Have you tried out any of these new features yet?
